We are delighted to welcome you to the 1st Spring Biophotonics Conference and hope that you will have an exciting and inspiring time. The scope of this symposium ranges from basic fundamental studies to applied research in the field of Biophotonics, Biomedical Optics, Optical Imaging, Biosensing and Theragnostics, including optical and photonics-based engineering, translational, clinical and pre-clinical studies.

The goal of the OPORTO Conference is to bring together the key members of Biophotonics international community after COVID isolation to discuss and resume business as usual, including current and further research plans, collaboration, exchange visits, public engagement events, etc.

In this spirit of the scientific exchange, we would like to thank you in advance for your active contribution to making the OPORTO Conference a success. We hope that while you are experiencing the exciting atmosphere of this event, you will gain new insights about the fascinating new developments in laser physics, light-tissue interaction, nano-photonics, neuro-imaging, image processing and their application in life sciences and modern biomedical applications.

With very best wishes on behalf of conference organizers,

Culture Program

Porto is the second biggest city in Portugal (second to Lisbon), located in the north of Portugal, at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. The town has a rich history with many monuments to visit in downtown locations, a particular folklore full of colorful traditions and exquisite food to taste at small prices. Its ancient name (Portus Calle) gave the name to the country – Portugal. Porto is known worldwide for its famous Port wine, which can be bought in one of the many local stores inside the city.

Although the conference participants are welcome to take free visits to the city and its local attractions and stores, a social program will be included for those who are interested.

During the afternoon of April 23, the participants will take a small tour by bus to visit the Port wine cellars in the left margin of the Douro river. There, a guided visit to one of the cellars will take place, with wine tasting at the end. Port wine bottles can be bought during the visit. At the end of the afternoon, the participants will take a short bus travel to the right margin of the Douro river to a nearby restaurant for the conference banquet. The restaurant is located on privileged site with a wonderful view of the Douro river and its margins.

This social program has an additional fee of 50€ (per person), which is not included in the conference registration fee.

Venue & Lodging

The conference venue will be at the Polytechnic of Porto – School of Engineering (ISEP), which is located in the north academic part of town.
