OPORTO 22 – 1st Spring Biophotonics Conference in Porto

Dear OPORTO 22 Participants!

We are delighted to welcome you to the 1st Spring Biophotonics Conference and hope that you will have an exciting and inspiring time. The goal of the OPORTO Conference is to encourage and bring together those scientists, engineers and clinical researchers from variety of disciplines engaged in applying optical science, photonics and imaging technologies to problems in industry, biology and medicine. The scope of this symposium ranges from basic research to instrumentation engineering, biological and clinical studies.

Actually, the goal of the OPORTO meeting is to continue and extend success of the previous symposia held in Munich (Germany), Saratov (Russia), Oulu (Finland), Riga (Latvia), Tel Aviv (Israel), Moscow & St. Petersburg (Russia), Florence (Italy), Glasgow (UK), Nice (France) and disseminate Science in general and the symposium in particular is all about communicating and exchanging ideas. In this spirit of scientific exchange, we would like to thank you in advance for your active contribution to making the Conference a success. We hope that while you are experiencing the exciting atmosphere of this event, you will gain new insights and learn about the fascinating new developments in Biophotonics, Laser Physics, and Biomedical Optics and Imaging.

With best wishes from the organizers,

Culture program
Porto is the second biggest city in Portugal (second to Lisbon), located in the north of Portugal, at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. The town has a rich history with many monuments to visit in downtown locations, a particular folklore full of colorful traditions and exquisite food to taste at small prices. Its ancient name (Portus Calle) gave the name to the country – Portugal. Porto is known worldwide for its famous Port wine, which can be bought in one of the many local stores inside the city.

Although the conference participants are welcome to take free visits to the city and its local attractions and stores, a social program will be included for those who are interested.

During the afternoon of April 25, the participants will take a small tour by bus to visit the Port wine cellars in the left margin of the Douro river. There, a guided visit to one of the cellars will take place, with wine tasting at the end. Port wine bottles can be bought during the visit. At the end of the afternoon, the participants will take a short bus travel to the right margin of the Douro river to a nearby restaurant for the conference banquet. The restaurant is located on privileged site with a wonderful view of the Douro river and its margins. This social program has a global fee of 50€ (per person)
